Support for Brown’s Leadership and Staff

In the wake of the horrific act of gun violence on our campus, the Brown chapter of the AAUP expresses its strong support for President Christina Paxson and the rest of the university's leadership and staff. We grieve the loss of life, irreparable bodily and psychological harm, and the violation of our community’s peace. We stand ready to join our university administration in the effort to heal this community and restore the spirit of openness, vibrancy, and safety on our campus. We also join the administration in condemning malicious disinformation and the targeting of particular members of our community based on racial, ethnic, or religious heritage, cultural background, and/or on gender or sexual identity or presentation. Such disinformation and conspiracy theorizing only harms our mutual efforts to keep the Brown community safe for all.
